A fellow Chemical Engineering graduate student, Allyson Frankman, and I, were asked to represent the school in a freshman career conference. We made ice cream frozed to sub-freezing temperatures by applying liquid nitrogen.
Our ice cream "add-ins" were little Hershey and Snicker bars. After crushing them and dropping them in the liquid cream, we'd pour liquid nitrogen over the mixture, and watch it morph! What looked like dry ice steam would evolve, and we'd mix and mix the ice cream with our wooden spoon. It was quite the adventure!
