Ignoring the reasons why one is respected, whether title or inherent grace, we bow to them. Every knee shall bend and every tongue confess is a display of respect toward perfection, just as standing during the the solemn assembly is an action of respect. However, what I rarely remember while in the bow-attitude late at night or at dawn's smile, is that I'm enacting submission as well as respect. The bow of prayer, especially when enticing events share our concentration or sleep tugs our eyelids, is an act of submission and respect. Somehow, the greatest respect to be given is our submission.
