How did I grow old in a day, roots
sprouting auburn-gray?
When did I stop the smile-song, quiet
under hopes gone wrong?
Why in instants did my life dissolve,
like sugar from a candy ball?
When walks lost time and eyes
glazed over, thoughtless under
black red-rover.
When peaks became a falling
point, not aspirations for
some love enjoined.
Quite little left to say of you
and less to say of me, the life
of yesteryears has become
a newfound travesty.
