Today while sitting at my kitchen table, I picked up an interesting book that I've never seen before, "Healing the Shame That Binds You" by John Bradshaw. It discusses a few interesting factors that seem pertinent to humanity in general- dealing with shame/guilt from your past. Whether the shame was self-imposed or structured according to a bad experience, this book documents several interesting concepts: how to recognize your guilt, generic coping mechanisms, helping others, etc.
I've noticed that one coping mechanism I've developed is exercise- running at the onset, growth, and end of any problem! It's how I train for marathons :), he he. I highly suggest this book as a quick read for anyone. It aligns well with gospel principles and is an several interesting ways provides hope- even a chance at a perfect brightness of hope. Enjoy!
