The thicket
was
taller when I
was
a child.
Doe sat at
dawn,
her spotted coat
meadows
of alive.
My ringlets,
sun-stroked,
were golden
morning and
cedar.
Older,
nesting wrinkles
cradling my
sight,
I find beautiful
groves.
Light,
unique,
I know them
nonetheless:
I loved it
in my
youth.
All beautiful things have
known my love,
for I loved them because
I hoped
I'd find them.
