The Perfect Dinner Roll

For a dinner this evening, I called up Mom and finally got a copy of her FAMOUS hot toll mix, a spin-off of the Lion House Rolls.  For your adventurous cooking pleasure, I've included the recipe below.  These are worth every minute!

HOT ROLL MIX
Prep time: 15 minutes initially, 15 minutes to roll and shape dough.  Total: 30 minutes.
Interim time: 3 hours (allowing dough to rise)
Bake time: 10-12 minutes.

Dissolve together:
1/2 c. warm water
1 Tablespoon sugar
2 Tablespoons yeast

Melt:
1/2 c. butter
1 teaspoon salt

Add:
1 (12 oz.) can evaporated milk
1/2 c. sugar

Add to yeast mixture:
4 beaten eggs
9-10+  cups of flour

Knead til blended.

Let rise in greased bowl until doubled in size, usually about 1 hour 30 minutes.

Dip in butter, then form crescent (pictures about is the 'square' roll).  Let rise again, usually another hour and 30 minutes.  Bake at 375 for 10 to 12 minutes.
