Penny's Baby Blessing

S and M blessed their darling little Penny.  One special moment of the blessing went something similar to this, "Penny, you've brought a spirit of peace and contentment into our home.  I bless you that this spirit will turn to faith as you grow."

The ordinances of the Gospel are becoming more and more sacred to me.  The bestowing of a name and the a blessing of a child remind me of Heavenly Father naming his first mortal Son, Adam, on this earth.  They are reminiscent of Adam naming his wife, Eve.  The names of Adam and Eve were symbolic of the soon-to-be mortal earth (Adam = red, earth) from which they were formed, and the creative purpose of God (creator of all living things).  I find it both beautiful and appropriate that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has renewed this practice, and look forward to the day wherein I can participate personally in such a sacred ordinance.
