Top of Utah... Marathon (26.2 miles)

Marathoning together became official five days before the start gun was fired. I think we were all as startled with the last minute decision as our legs were with the surreptitiously long run.

Logan, Utah is located an hour north of Woods Cross, and Camille played hostess; we had sleepover of which high school girls would be jealous :). We got training tips, racing tips, and super motivation from our Logan-ite friend (not to mention saw her cute kids!).
As the race began up in the Logan canyon, we were bussed up at 5.45 in the morning. The worst part of the ride was watching all the mile marker signs increase like the price of candy- and increase they did- all the way to 22 miles.

We wore matching colored shirts, earrings, and duct-taped 'VDG' on our shirts for some family unity. There were some ostentatious acronyms given as we ran next to people: 'Get er done,' 'Very darn good (expletive removed for G rating),' 'Da Great Vivas,' etc.

Mommers, in customary mommers-style, came and took pictures, videotaped, and even enticed us toward the finish line with candy bars. She deserves all our medals 'cause she's our mommers!
