For our MLK Jr fun, the girls did pilates and went shopping, and the boys went out to Tooelle in search of pesky jack rabbits needing to be shot!

We pulled together our .22 caliber rifles (which we each got at the age of twelve) and tracked old rabbits through a half-foot of snow. Although there were fresh footprints, we never did see a single rabbit! Instead we blasted a mountainside full of bullets, and listened to Wayne's glory stories of shooting guns in the national guard, and Dad's stories of his youth at Boot Mountain.

Every good tracker has to put his ear to the ground and listen for rabbit footsteps!
