A Case for Feeling

I reflect often of this quote on those days where I just don't seem to feel.  The case of feelinglesness isn't always a bad thing.  It can result as a recoil to overexertion, a natural response to stress, or the contended state of consistency.  Whatever the cause, I try to exert my heart, nonetheless.

"Is bread the better for kneading?  So is the heart.
Knead it then by spiritual exercises; or God must knead it by afflictions."

Who said this? I love it, although I do think your explanation of non feeling is just as good.
